Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Min Yoga Makeover - 5 Volume Gift Set (Power Beauty Sweat, Total Body Tone with Weights, Flat Abs, Weight Loss, Sculpted Buns & Thighs) Review



I was recently introduced to Bikram (hot) Yoga and was looking for DVD's that I could do on the days I didn't go to classes. I borrowed 2 of these 5 DVD's from my library and LOVED them from the first time I pushed play, so I decided to buy this set.

After doing all of these workouts, I can tell you that Sara Ivanhoe is a wonderful instructor and some of the poses can be challenging, but in my opinion, these DVD's are made for beginners (like me). I feel that everyone's definition of "beginner" is different, so I will add that while I may be a beginner to yoga, I am not new to "fitness." I go to the gym 3-4 days a week and have done spin (cycling) classes for the last two years, so I am used to the intensity of strength and cardio training.

My workout routine had become monotonous, hence the reason I am trying yoga. I do have to say that I LOVE it. I find the "challenge" of these DVD's seems to be my lack of flexibility and even my core strength. And lemme tell ya, I was SORE after doing the Sculpted Buns and Thigh DVD. My favorite DVD is the Weight Loss one, where it incorporates more of the "flow" yoga, which is what I am used to in classes.

All in all, it is a good and quick workout - especially if you do two DVD's consecutively. And even if you are new to fitness, I would say this is a great purchase...but keep in mind that when you are new to something, you are probably going to be sore no matter what, as your muscles will just be "waking up."

Very happy with these tapes. I will usually do two at a time. It is not too challenging but the instructor is pleasant and it's great for squeezing in a yoga workout when you don't have alot of time on your hands.

Why am Yoga

Most people do yoga to be flexible and durable. Some do it to be in shape, some do it to remove the rigid body or easy. Some do it as a springboard "to change his life for the better.

My story: I stumbled on hatha yoga done in a gym at the college, many years ago. It 'was in mid 1970.

The yoga session consisted of half a position now known, and I tried to bend, move and manage, as instructed. I followed the instructor and howwas proposed by him, I pushed very hard (but not too hard) to align with the attitudes. I was a little 'uncomfortable, but not too much. I think it was a bit 'strange, but I liked it.

The end of the session of yoga. As The thirty minutes session ended, the lights were dimmed and closed with us on the back of the corpse pose Savasana, or ` 'for 10 minutes delicious to let go of a guided tour." How to describe the experience of the moment? The leaves of the trees and the blue sky was so rich and alive. I looked aroundPeople passing me, and seemed so soulful. OK, the world was so different, no ... could not be. Something is happening inside me that I see in the world in a new way to activate. I felt very awake, I felt very conscious of ...

Since these organic radiated joy was that of mine. I felt like I was in my body to the ground, my body was established on the earth, and my mind was the altitude. All this from my yoga class started. I understood that through this experience, my whole being wastold me that resonates with the practice of yoga. I knew my yoga practice to honor the privacy of me and I would maintain, as I traveled around the world.

My experience yoga supply: I have rarely seen such an intense experience like that again. However, there have been thousands of experiments further support in past years, the day on strengthening the continuity of my practice. I am lifting my practiceat the same time almost every day, or if I can fit that in general, as half-hour session, five days a week.

What are the advantages and experiences that I (and others) have in common?

Physics: I can better manage the pressure of my daily work, or my responsibility to others. I only have extra energy or clarity or that I have bursts of energy throughout the day and find after work, I need to rest. My body feels lighter (easier) and when I exert myself or bend, IFeels the difference. Perhaps others perceive me in a favorable light as well.

Mental Health: I have more energy, so I think more energy. Sometimes during a session, when I have a problem or question Mull, a change that is happening and the answer will be displayed. At times during the day seems to be the answer that would otherwise be. I see the relationship between first seemingly unrelated events and ideas. By sinking the attitudes, triggers the stress of the day. It is always a transition from active life inthe rest of the day. Or waking up early today.

Emotional: I feel stronger, relaxed and find that developing my feelings are very positive. It's easier to get in touch and my friends and the community. Perhaps at some point during the day I had an experience that I have never seen elsewhere, and connect with the uniqueness of a human being, or having an experience of clarity or gratitude.

Spiritual / Energy: Sometimes there are moments when I feel a great depthin me.

Now, for the review: I have found this to be a great exercise routine. The exercises are not only low impact but also low-key and low-tech. No hype, just good stretches designed to keep the body limber, stimulate the lymph system, breath in energy, and let out stress. You do not need a lot of space for the exercises--just room enough to swing your arms laterally and spread your feet apart. The full routine only takes 15 minutes, but for those who've delayed exercising because they can't even take 15 minutes in the morning, Mr. Van Daam has also put in a 9 minute version. (There's a longer instructional segment which is should be viewed first to understand the how's and why's of the various moves.) The exercises on this DVD are not yoga per se, but will seem familiar to anyone who has done yoga, especially with the emphasis on process--the idea is to do what you can without overreaching, and gradually improve. I highly recommend it.

Once I got past the intro and into the guidelines, I was surprised how informative the presentation was.

The presenter has an easy style and is able to talk all the way through the exercises which helps keeps the momentum going, hence the exercises were easy to follow and were not too taxing.

Suitable for all ages, as the front cover says. I recommend this for general health and wellbeing. I hope to use this as part of my preparation for meditation and energy work.

Great Price for

Bryan Kest - Power Yoga for Weight Loss Review



I've been doing yoga for several years now, both classes and tapes. I've tried several tapes/dvds and I believe Bryan Kest's are truly the best. I've purchased five so far. The practice is very challenging, my strength and endurance have increased tremendously. The videos average from 40 minutes to just under an hour, long enough to get an excellent workout but not too long to fit it in a busy day. Some of his commentary gets a little old after a while but its a workout tape, not a movie & I can live with that. Turn down the volume & listen to Enya if it bothers you. Bottom line, I'd recommend any of his videos/dvds to any beginner/intermediate level practitioner, they're well worth the price.

I liked this program for the most part. My wife and I tried it and it was pretty good, but I gotta say, that once we were used to Mark Blanchard's Progressive Power Yoga, this was just average in comparison. I think Bryan has a decent style and invigorating practice...good for a sweat, but for the core workout and the mental space that I am used to going to, I did not find this to be the best ticket to the experience. He kept taking my attention away from the workout and that felt annoying. My wife did not have that experience, but she can even tune me out when she wants to...and she has been doing yoga much longer than I have.



Breathing Hard! - -
Definitely an aerobic workout but with a yogic touch. Bryan Kest's routine made me work my body hard but also helped remind me to keep breathing. I love the messages he presents in his DVDs. They remind me to stay calm even when I'm breathing hard or when life throws me a curve ball.

This is a great routine and a nice addition to anyone's yoga collection. When you're ready to sweat, throw this one into your DVD player.

This was a really great workout. I have got used to Bryan's rambeling, its what makes Bryan Kest him. I have also lost alot of weight and gotten tone in alot of places that I didn't thing could ever get tone. My armes belly everyplace. I also feel wonderful about myself and my environment. Not my cup of tea - Jessica Williams - Michigan

I love the other Gaiam programs and products. I bought this set thinking that it would be a fast paced home session that might actually burn a calorie or two. Wrong! The DVDs are actually AM/PM yoga for Weight loss and Yoga Conditioning for Weight loss, with a total running time of about twenty minutes each.

The AM/ PM disks are very slow. If I was to actually use them in the AM/ PM I might have fallen asleep. The Conditioning program has multiple instructors to fallow, each demonstrating your fitness level with slightly to completely modified poses. The modifications are very easy. Beginners probably will be capable of doing the full pose with only slight modification to a few. If you have health problems some of the modifications may work for you but they didn't help me.

I did appreciate that Gaiam used real women in the DVD. This also points out that yoga alone will never get you looking like Suzie what's her name. The set is a good place to start if you are just becoming active however, if you have done any yoga before... get a different tape.

great beginner's practices, BUT WATCH OUT FOR MARKETING PLOY - sobepeace -
this is basically a package consisting of two suzanne deason dvds, Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss and AM PM Yoga for Weight Loss, spread across three dvds. the yoga practices are very fine work, worth four or five stars individually, but i have cut this down to one star because the repackaging may cause people to think the Quick Start and Maintenance dvds are new and different than the AM/PM dvd. also, at this writing, the package costs more than the individual dvds. shame on you, gaiam!

Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss is a popular gentle beginners' practice, about 45 minutes in length, demonstrating four different levels of practice from beginner to most advanced. It presents a balanced practice of standing poses, backbends, core work, forward bends and twists. suzanne deason's AM PM Yoga for Weight Loss is also a fine dvd, providing a similar kind of practice, in shorter, more focused versions. there is a morning and evening practice and bonus workout, each simple and short (more or less 25 min. each) and well cued, with modifications for beginners in the morning and evening segments. the morning practice focuses on standing poses and backbends. The evening practice focuses on shoulder opening and forward bends. The bonus breathwork workout is more advanced and does not present modifications. it focuses on integrating breath and movement in more challenging standing poses, backbends, and core work.

two dvds included here present the same workouts as the AM/PM dvd. Quick Start Yoga for Weight Loss is the AM portion of the original dvd, and Maintenance Yoga for Weight Loss is the PM portion of the original, plus the dvd's bonus workout on cd. if you want all of these suzanne deason practices on dvd, you can just buy Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss and AM PM Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss separately. you will end up with two dvds including all the practices contained here on three dvds and one cd, for less money.

Yoga: Opening the hips with the Pigeon Pose
