Check Out Wai Lana Yoga: Easy Relaxation Workout for $10.95

Wai Lana Yoga: Easy Relaxation Workout Review

I found this easy series just right for me as a beginner. This Relaxation workout energizes as well as relaxes. I have had to do some for less time than shown and have over the last couple months strengthened incredibly. This is really the only exercise I do and my muscles are firm and movement is coming much easier for me. When finished I feel like I've had a full body workout. It is refreshing and energizing.

Wai Lana has a soothing voice that my husband calls monotone, but I find is slightly melodious and very easy to ignore when I'm doing something else, but easy to hear and calming to listen to when I do. She moves between poses rather quickly, but after a while I got used to this. If this is bothersome to you at first you can do the "One Asana at a time" or just do the poses in less time to give you time to rest more between poses. Wai Lana has beautiful outfits that change throughout each session and a variety of beautiful backgrounds. Her outfits are very modest and not form fitting (a plus for men who don't want distraction). She wears an elastic belt around her waist, which helps you see what she is doing with her waist. She is very descriptive of how to do the poses and what benefits you are getting. Because her voice is non-intrusive it isn't irritating that she talks most of the time. She says nothing extraneous that would distract you from the pose and over a long period of time of using the DVD hearing her say the same things each time doesn't get irritating.

On the main menu you have "Start Workout", "Extras", and Introduction (which is the same on each DVD). The "Start Workout" is the entire work out for that DVD. The workout itself consists of about 35 minutes of postures. After that is a time of music and meditation. Under "Extras" it lists "One Asana at a time", which does as it says; "Customize your workout", this lets you do the asanas (poses) in any order you wish with 17 asanas (on the beginner's I didn't count there others) and 20 slots for your choices, so you can do one more than once or some not at all as you don't have to fill all the slots; "Guidelines" this is a basic rundown of things to do and not to do to get the most out of it and prevent injury; and "More from Wai Lana", which covers all the things she has to sell - her other DVDs and tapes, her music CDs, mats, etc. You can also see those things on her website: www.wailana.com.

Each DVD comes with an illustrated book showing a picture of each asana, its English name, and what it physically benefits most. This is useful if you are going traveling and don't have a DVD player, doing the set outside, or if you want to do the set at your own pace.

There is also an option on the main screen of each that allows you to change from English to Spanish.

The Relaxation Workout includes: Three-Step Leg Lift, Rock & Roll, Sitting Eagle, Arm Circles, Shoulder Rolls, Shoulder Lifts, Reaching Backbend, Windmill, Tree Pose, Easy Camel, Alternate Leg Stretch, Biking Pose, Drawbridge, Side Leg Rise, Locust Lift, Sacrum Massage, and Meditation.

Side note: the asana Wai Lana is doing on the front of each DVD cover is not included on that DVD, so don't pick the DVD(s) you buy by the asana pictured on the front.

Not What I Was Expecting - Spiritualist Enthusiast - Saratoga, CA
It wasn't what I was expecting.

Great - Lena, LMT - Nassau, NY
Wai Lana is very true to her art, her stamina & flexibility are amazing. She holds each pose for a good length, describing in details exactly how to move, when to breathe at all times, what to watch out for if your body tries to "cheat", modifications for each pose. The most important thing she does which most yoga DVDs lack is that she tells you the BENEFITS while you are holding them to keep you inspired to try your hardest to get the health benefits. She also uses some moves that are Qi Gong style to increase energy & blood flow. In all her videos, she always works out at beautiful beaches & other landscapes.

From Grass Tiger's review of Wai Lana's 3 disc set, the Relaxation disc has: Three-Step Leg Lift, Rock & Roll, Sitting Eagle, Arm Circles, Shoulder Rolls, Shoulder Lifts, Reaching Backbend, Windmill, Tree Pose, Easy Camel, Alternate Leg Stretch, Biking Pose, Drawbridge, Side Leg Rise, Locust Lift, Sacrum Massage, and Meditation.

My legs, especially hamstrings, were stiff & hurting me before the workout & felt great after. On a pose to fix poor back posture, I pushed myself too much & was in slight pain during & my back was muscularly sore after. The interesting thing was, if I slouched, it hurt more, if I kept my back straight, the pain disapeared instantly. The pain was gone in a few days without any pain meds, heat or ice or anything which I normally never bother with.
The only cons are that some people have said her accent is hard to understand, but I, who usually do have trouble with accents, did not. She speaks in a unrushed, calm tones. She also uses gaudy makeup & very colorful outfits. But those complaints are shallow, and all that matters is the teaching ability for a safe workout.
I wish more yoga videos taught you benefits as you did the poses to keep you inspired.

Check Out Power Yoga the Complete Workout - Stamina, Strength, Flexibility with Rodney Yee

Power Yoga the Complete Workout - Stamina, Strength, Flexibility with Rodney Yee Review

My friend and I have decided to have a weekly yoga session at my apartment. The Power Yoga for Beginners was my first exposure to yoga, ever, and I wouldn't recommend it for true beginners that have never done yoga.

Yee moves too quickly between poses, using only the technical names that mean absolutely nothing to a true beginner. Since you don't know the terms yet (downward dog, hero pose, etc), you are required to keep your eyes on the screen to follow what is going on. However, a very limited number of poses allows you the luxury of actually keeping your eyes on the screen. I was lucky to workout with my friend, who has experience with these tapes, so I could follow in her footsteps. As a beginner watching a beginner's tape, I was expecting clear explanations about each pose, but there was absolutely none of that.

My suggestion for true beginners is to go with something else and make this series a second, or maybe third step in your yoga progression. I would personally file this series at an intermediate level.

My only other complaint may be based on the fact that these are my friend's old VHS tapes, not DVDs -- but, the video appears a bit grainy and has a low resolution, like they filmed it with a store-bought handicam. I'm not sure if the quality is as bad with the DVD, which I plan to buy in the future. Just something to consider before purchasing...

But after saying all that... I seriously LOVE this series!

It's challenging, it get's my heart racing and the sweat dripping, giving me a real workout that I have not since experienced with my other yoga tapes. The poses never stop flowing, you don't get a moment to rest before moving on to the next challenging pose. It's a relentless stream of movement.

Yee is not a cheesy instructor prone to banal conversation and platitudes. He is direct to the point and enjoyable to watch. The music is perfectly unremarkable, which is how I prefer it. And the ocean background is better than the usual gym (but not as good as some of my other Gaiam videos). So far, this is my favorite yoga series and I expect to use it often in the future.

Power Yoga the Complete Workout - Stamina, Strength, Flexibility with Rodney Yee Overview

Power Yoga the Complete Workout - Stamina, Strength, Flexibility with Rodney Yee Specifications

Meditating on a white sand beach as the clear blue water rolls toward your peaceful body is what Power Yoga is about. Yoga master Rodney Yee leads this three-part workout against the backdrop of grassy fields, deserts, and beaches. Each of the three segments focuses on the mind-body connection while increasing flexibility and learning the basic (and the difficult) postures of yoga. These 25-minute segments can be done in sequence for an overall body challenge or (if time is a factor) divided into individual workouts. The first session concentrates on stamina and introduces the sun salutation with attention to breathing and body awareness. This portion is less physically demanding than the two that follow and would be ideal for beginners or participants who crave relaxation. The second segment makes strength the focal point through a series of cross-legged lunges and more strenuous postures. Yee challenges the upper body here by incorporating a variety of arm balances and more difficult poses within the sun salutation. The third and final workout centers on power movements that utilize major muscle groups. This is a great format for advanced participants because the poses are more physically demanding and require greater flexibility to hold. Yee gradually increases the difficulty, which allows for optimum form and range of motion. Each of the three sessions concludes with meditation that is both calming and restorative. The variation of intensity makes this collection perfect for beginning and experienced yoga students alike. Overall this total body workout is designed for those who want to strengthen both mind and body. --Olivia Voigts

one of my favorites - Elizabeth Armenta - Dallas, TX
I love Rodney Yee. I have had this DVD for years. It is one of my favorites because it is vigorous and challenging. You will sweat and fatigue your muscles. It is a great workout. My boyfriend, who is very built and has always been an althete, tried the Stamina workout the other day as his first exposure to yoga. He was tired at the end. Highly recommended. However, this really is not the best video if you are a beginner. You might start with the AM/PM yoga for beginners video to get comfortable with the poses.

Nice alternative to weights - Shane D. Rogers - Woodbridge, VA
After badly injuring one of my shoulders doing the bench press, I had to find a safer alternative to weightlifting. So I decided to look into yoga. Rodney Yee was about the only guy who caught my interest. I have a number of his tapes, but this dvd is the main one I've used over the years. The workouts are challenging and will make you sweat. Some of the poses in the strength section are particularly difficult, but I was able to eventually do them all with practice. Of course, you prolly won't look as good as Rodney Yee doing the poses, but if you're able to get your feet up off the ground that's the main thing in my book! I've always enjoyed the strength section the most as it focuses on arm strength and is quick to the point. All in all, I really have enjoyed the DVD and Yee's workout is definitely a nice alternative to lifting weights for hours on end and chugging protein shakes. And if nothing else girls love a guy that does yoga. ;)

first time yoga - Michael Fitch - carlsbad
First, just a word to A.Vegan. If you have been performing yoga for a while, why would you choose this DVD? It does say for beginners, so it doesn't surprise me that it wasn't challenging enough for you. Maybe you should try something with "Power Yoga for Intermediate or Advanced Students" instead? That being said, this is pretty tough for the beginner. Not really in a fatigue sort of way, more the flexibility and the familiarity with the routine. At first, you are constantly looking at the video at the same time as doing the moves, and like people have said, it isn't quite in sync all the time. After a few times through, however, you can follow the voice alone and just look up now and then to double-check. I have become addicted to Yoga through this DVD and my flexibility has improved as well as my sense of balance. I think this is a worthwhile DVD to purchase, along with other DVDs that complement it.

Mike

Yoga Workout

A yoga workout is a wonderful thing. By doing yoga, you will see results fast, and actually have fun working out. I am not saying that you will look like a yoga instructor after one workout. However, if you want physical results fast, all you have to do is dedicate the right amount of time and effort.

The most important thing is to not buy into the delusions of the "get fit quick" mentality. If you really want to see results, ten minutes twice a week is not going to cut it. A real yoga routine needs at least three or four workouts a week. Each time you do your yoga workout, it needs to be at least thirty minutes to one hour.

By thirty minutes to one hour, I mean dedicate that much time out of your day to yoga. That does not mean an hour of hardcore workout. Putting aside an hour simply allows you enough time to do everything right. In an hour, you should be able to start with a warm up, do some meditation, do some breathing exercises, and then actually do your poses. After that, you should have enough time left over to do a good cool down exercise to finish your routine.

If you want to see results faster, I suggest doing a yoga workout as part of your daily life. Putting aside a half an hour or one hour everyday might seem like a burden to some, but just think about how much time people usually dedicated to watching television on a daily basis. If you have time to watch television, you have time to take care of yourself.

Also remember that a yoga workout is not like a typical workout routine. It is not like weightlifting or other sports in the sense that it is intense and stressful. Yoga is based around relaxation. By engaging in stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation you gain much more than just physical benefit. You gain mental, emotional, and perhaps even spiritual benefits as well.

I suggest joining a class or even finding a good book or video to help educate yourself on doing yoga. While an instructor is perhaps the best resource you can have, finding a good book or DVD is good way to do some independent study. In my opinion, you should have the ability to consult both. Remember anything worth doing takes some amount of time, but also remember that with yoga you can see faster results.

Nude Nude Pilates and exercise is not for everyone, but the Au-Natural Workout gaining popularity

Nude exercises. Nude Pilates. Nude Yoga. If you lose your inhibitions at the door. Movement in birthday suit becomes a trend!

With whom?

As for this article, fascinates me, not ... Forum shocked by how many exercises nude. Well, I'm not a prude. I'm just curious.

Here are a few descriptions that I have in the forum of people who read their workouts au natural to describe. Uninhibited. Ok ... of course. Share. This is big. Productive.Productive? Let's get this.

Exercise in costume birthday, there's nothing to hide. If you nude Pilates exercises, this means even more. Pilates exercise programs is a method of payment details with great attention to the form. How best to see your form, when naked, do Pilates! It might not be deceived. Your belly will be on the shoulders are down. Your lot will be taken from him. Yes, your training more productive.

This means that your localPilates Studio is about to begin with nude Pilates classes? Probably not. My Pilates Studio is not in the first place because nobody would come. I live in New England. We cover almost everything around here.

I think many people who practice their training naked in the privacy of your own home or in a nudist camp. Is it safe to exercise naked? Exercises are to believe that the majority of exercise can be done nude, but watch out for the big influence. Breasts and testicles need a little 'moreSupport, thank you.

How about naked with factor-cleaning exercise? What to cook germs get a voice in places where they should not? Even the cleanest Pilates equipment can cause a certain amount of germs. This idea certainly has some kind of factor of disgust.

Ok ... let's spin this issue a bit '. What is the naked truth about Pilates? What are some myths?

Myth: Pilates is just for women.
Naked Truth: No way! Joseph Pilates was a man. Men needStrength training, flexibility and balance.

Myth: Pilates is like yoga.
Naked Truth: No way! Yoga is yoga. 'S Pilates. There are some cross-references. Breathing, stretching and focus are part of the two modes, but the similarities end.

Myth: Pilates is also difficult to master.
Naked Truth: No way! It must be somewhere, and beginners can benefit from Pilates as starting professionals. Start with the basics, even iffit. Remember, you must create a solid foundation before building a house!

If it's naked exercises are your thing or not, give Pilates a try. With or without clothes, Pilates is a good choice.
