Yoga Teacher Training Online Correspondence Courses - The Inside Story
Is Yoga certification online a new concept? Not really; correspondence courses have existed for decades - concerning a multitude of subjects. It was only a matter of time for correspondence courses to evolve into online courses. Higher education has learned to adapt to the needs of busy adults, who have many commitments at home and at work.
With the help of Email and telephone support, Yoga teacher interns receive much quicker responses, from their tutors, than ever before. Written assignments, completed exams, and critiques, can be sent back and forth via Email.
Some interns elect to send their practicum in a video format or by streaming video. The most popular way to send a practical exam is still by postal mail in DVD format. Of course, the large VHS tapes are also acceptable. However, the small Hi8 tapes, which resemble cassette audio tapes, can be erased by scanning equipment.
Sending a video taped practicum is a viable option, if travel for an on site Yoga certification practical exam is a hardship. The cost of travel, time out of work, family obligations, and commitments to a higher college education, can make it impossible to complete an on site practicum.
Interns of Yoga correspondence courses must be self-starters. It is best to have smaller specific goals in mind for successful completion of the ultimate goal - which is to graduate with a Yoga teacher's diploma in hand.
Examples of smaller specific learning goals are: Reading ten pages per day, teaching for an hour per day, or a mix of learning methods, for a specific number of hours per week. The end result is a state of competence and successful completion of your Yoga instructor certification course.

Yoga Feels Good
Why Yoga feels so good.
Are you looking for a self-help treatment that you can give yourself? Look no farther than a local Yoga studio. Practicing Yoga regularly revitalizes every single part of the body right down to the cellular level. Nothing quite beats Yoga as a great source of natural health care.
There are many reasons to practice Yoga. Yoga grants physical health and vitality, relief from pain and stress, emotional strength and clarity during difficult times and the list goes on and on. Of course, not even Yoga can be touted as a cure all for everything but if I find myself needing a mental or physical boost, a little Yoga goes a long way.
How you look impacts the way you feel about your self and it goes the other way around too. One of the many blessings of practicing Yoga is a youthful appearance. Yoga poses tone your muscles much the same as isometric exercise When you add inner focus to Yoga stretches, there will be little or no chance of muscle injury. Toned muscles hold the posture erect, reduce the risk of injury and give you an awesome physique.
Looking to fight the battle of cellulite? Yoga can help you to do that because rather than building muscle, Yoga builds muscle tone. Yoga stretches muscles lengthwise, causing fat to be eliminated around the cells and that is what reduces cellulite. Because Yoga helps to maintain balanced metabolism, Yoga also helps to regulate weight.
You can help your self to look years younger than you are. In India, age is measured by flexibility of the body and especially the spine. The spine works as the messenger for the brain, when the spine is flexible; the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain and other organs is unrestricted. Many poses and exercises in Yoga are aimed at keeping the spine flexible by gently moving, twisting and flexing the spine in all directions.
We all know that stress will zap your energy faster than anything. Finding ways to relax and enjoy life will bring more energy. Yoga gives you tools to turn stress into energy by allowing you to recognize the stress when it begins before it becomes too large to manage because Yoga will give you a greater self awareness.
With your higher awareness will come peace of mind and that equals freedom. Freedom from the load on our minds that we often carry unconsciously, that load, you will realize, holds you back. Becoming aware of how your mind works is your first step to peace of mind.
After you practice Yoga for a while it may help you to overcome some self-limitations you may be placing on your self. When you are able to do that you will feel lighter and you will have an "acceptance" of your life as it is. You start to learn that challenges have their place in your life but they will not "rule" your life.
Yoga helps you realize your true potential and it encourages you to grow and improve towards that potential always striving to reach peace of mind.
Yoga helps you to focus on your breath. Breathing is the first thing we do when we come into this life and it is the last thing we do as we leave. However many of us are often not even aware that we are breathing.
Have you ever forgotten to breathe? There are some things in life that are so frightening, exciting, dangerous or amazing you may momentarily forget. Think about the way that you are breathing and how it relates to what is happening in your life.
Your breathe is rapid and shallow if you are afraid, or you take short sharp breaths when you have exerted your self with intense work. We take in a deep long breath when we are tired, we yawn to draw in additional oxygen. A sigh releases anxiety and if you were to stand on a windy cliff over looking the ocean you would likely take a deep long breath.
Taking the unconscious process of breathing and making it conscious is an essential aspect of yoga. The Sages of old found that as they became aware of their breathing as it moved in and out the mind could be consciously controlled. They then began to use the mind to control the breath, which happened to benefit the entire body and mind.
The ancient yogis were aware of the life energy that all things on this earth are made of. They revered the vital energy that enters on the breath. The exhale or releasing energy of the out-breath also being vital. The interplay of the two, inhale and exhale is what keeps us alive by circulating the vital life force and eliminating the used-up energy.

Budokon: Flow and Flexibility Yoga Review
First of all, this really is a great DVD. This is the only Budokon workout I have ever tried, so I can't compare it to the others. While I do enjoy the workout and do feel challenged by it, it is not one I alway return to.
Also, I can't help but feel a little cheated, 15 minutes of the 55 minute routine are spent just breathing (5 at the beginning and 10 at the end). For this reason, I only consider this a 40 minute workout. But that is not to say the 40 minutes are not challenging. I enjoy the bursts of martial arts thrown into the DVD, and I enjoy the flow. I always feel good after doing this DVD, but it just is not one I return to frequently.
I also own the Mark Blanchard 3 DVD Progressive Power Yoga set, which is another set that challenges me, but I find it difficult to motivate myself to do them. Maybe I'm not much of a yoga person. I have tried Rodney Yee, Ravi & Ana, and a few others, but I have yet to find one I love. I want to enjoy yoga more, but I just can't get into it (I should mention I am an avid workout video enthusiast, with a large library). So with all that said, this is one of my favourite yoga DVDs.

These carefully chosen techniques from the Budokon System (combining yoga, martial arts, and meditation) will teach you to address areas of weakness and limited range while cultivating kinetic chains of energy and seamless transitions. With a perfectly balanced blend of Budokon techniques such as Rolling Wave, Dancing Dog, and Water Wheel along with foot and hand striking combinations, this DVD promises to be like nothing you have ever seen before. The DVD also contains a bonus director's commentary, consisting of a personal and in-depth discussion of the art of Budokon, revealing founder Cameron Shayne's motivations and perspectives on creating this unique art form.
What is Budokon? Budokon is a ground breaking mind and movement art form that draws from ancient yogic martial arts and meditation traditions seamlessly blending the two into one revolutionary practice. Budokon's creator, Kancho Cameron Shayne has devoted his entire life to the study and mastery of body organization and awareness through the classical arts of Yoga, Martial Arts and Meditation. His keen understanding of mind/body dynamics, coupled with an eye for the complex qualities of movement has made him one of the most acclaimed and sought after mind-body-spirit innovators in the world.

Ninja :) - Rebecca Mayne - caux france
I loved this workout. It's fun and challenging and I feel like a ninja while I do it ;).
It's got a lot of the standard yoga postures (up and down dog, warriors 1 and 2) but puts them together in flowing enchainements. The flow sequences remind me of Shiva Rea's graceful style but with a little more punch (no pun intended).
Not for beginners - Christopher Knight -
This dvd oesnt really explain how to do anything. It shows alot of diferent techniques and positions, but if you are not someone that can learn on the fly then this isn't the dvd for you.
Best starter for the series. - Laney Stems - Pittsburgh, PA, USA
I really enjoyed this DVD. I feel that this workout is the easiest of all three tapes. While this workout is by no means simple, it is will get you moving and help you build up strength for the next ones. This tape has no balance on your hands type work (i.e. no crow positions). My advice: start with this DVD then move up.

Yoga Nidra - The Meditation For Deep Relaxation
Though yoga could be the most comfortable method of mental and physical relaxation, it is a lot more than a mere relaxation technique. In fact, relaxation is just the first step in the whole process.
One of the easiest ways to relax is to practice Yoga Nidra where you lie still on your back and carefully follow the instructions. Effective for people who need a viable method for relaxation, there are many who use tapes or CDs of Yoga Nidra. These people have no other knowledge of yoga or meditation.
There are instances when people complain to me saying that they simply can not relax, no matter what they do. Inevitably, these people have tried methods of relaxation, where they have to constantly imagine that they have to relax. At the end of such an exercise, it is no wonder that the person is frustrated and irritated at not being able to derive any benefit from relaxation, having to spend so much effort and energy to achieve his goal.
Yoga Nidra is one yogic practice where you are never instructed to relax. My personal experience shows that people, who have had problems relaxing earlier, have derived quick benefits from this practice.
While it is an easy process for relaxation for beginners, it is equally popular with school children and the elderly. It is highly valued at work places.
There is nothing as good as Yoga Nidra to improve your concentration, revival of energy and resting the frayed nerves. You can practice Yoga Nidra any time you want. This has a very good effect on your sleep especially if you have problems with your sleep.
When you practice Yoga Nidra, listen to the instructions without making any overt effort or using any mental force to do what you are doing. Follow what you are told to do with ease, interest and awareness. The rest takes care of itself.
When you start to practice Yoga Nidra, chances are that you might go off to sleep, which is perfectly in order, though the intention is to remain awake and aware. For some time you just can not follow the instructions. You think you have fallen asleep, yet you remain conscious. While falling asleep is a transitional event, with practice you would gradually remain present and aware in a deep state of consciousness.
To get the best results from Yoga Nidra, it is recommended that you lie down with your head pointing towards the north. Wear loose fitting clothes and lie down on an even floor instead of a over-soft mattress, etc. In case you find that you are likely to go off to sleep, keep your hands and feet uncovered or better still, and lie down with out any cover on your body. If you still tend to fall asleep, you need to rest your elbows on the floor with your forearms pointing upwards. This will prevent you from falling asleep as every time you do so, your forearms will drop on the floor and you would wake up.
The objective of Yoga Nidra, as with every other form of real meditation is to achieve consciousness which rests in itself. Thoughts, dreams and events may surface during yoga nidra practice which takes you back in time with memories flooding your consciousness. When these things happen - do not stick to any thought, simply let them come and pass. Do not be judgmental about any thought, person or event also. When you let your thoughts and emotions come and go with ease and calmness, you are freeing your mind of all impressions and reaching a truly relaxed state. Imagine your mind to have many open windows from where thoughts come and can immediately disappear, gradually making space for inspiration.

Yoga Workout
A yoga workout is a wonderful thing. By doing yoga, you will see results fast, and actually have fun working out. I am not saying that you will look like a yoga instructor after one workout. However, if you want physical results fast, all you have to do is dedicate the right amount of time and effort.
The most important thing is to not buy into the delusions of the "get fit quick" mentality. If you really want to see results, ten minutes twice a week is not going to cut it. A real yoga routine needs at least three or four workouts a week. Each time you do your yoga workout, it needs to be at least thirty minutes to one hour.
By thirty minutes to one hour, I mean dedicate that much time out of your day to yoga. That does not mean an hour of hardcore workout. Putting aside an hour simply allows you enough time to do everything right. In an hour, you should be able to start with a warm up, do some meditation, do some breathing exercises, and then actually do your poses. After that, you should have enough time left over to do a good cool down exercise to finish your routine.
If you want to see results faster, I suggest doing a yoga workout as part of your daily life. Putting aside a half an hour or one hour everyday might seem like a burden to some, but just think about how much time people usually dedicated to watching television on a daily basis. If you have time to watch television, you have time to take care of yourself.
Also remember that a yoga workout is not like a typical workout routine. It is not like weightlifting or other sports in the sense that it is intense and stressful. Yoga is based around relaxation. By engaging in stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation you gain much more than just physical benefit. You gain mental, emotional, and perhaps even spiritual benefits as well.
I suggest joining a class or even finding a good book or video to help educate yourself on doing yoga. While an instructor is perhaps the best resource you can have, finding a good book or DVD is good way to do some independent study. In my opinion, you should have the ability to consult both. Remember anything worth doing takes some amount of time, but also remember that with yoga you can see faster results.
